Deadline Extended (10 March): Request for Community Input - ICARP Initial Impact Assessment

The planning for ICARP IV is underway and IASC, together with the ICARP IV hosts, have commissioned an initial assessment on the impact and outcomes of the past three ICARP meetings in 1995, 2005 and 2015 to be presented at the Arctic Science Summit Week 2024 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK in March 2024. We are asking all who have participated in a past ICARP conference to fill in this short survey and share your thoughts on the process, new collaborations you may have formed as a result and suggestions for the future. Deadline to complete the survey has been extended to March 10.

Invitation to Participate in the ICARP IV Survey

The goal of the fourth International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP IV) engagement process is to ensure that the scientific priorities for the next decade are firmly grounded on the advice and needs of Arctic scientists and science organizations, Indigenous peoples and Arctic residents, stakeholders, and rights-holders. This survey has been designed to be inclusive of diverse perspectives. It is one component of the ICARP IV community engagement process.

The Third International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP III) was held in Toyama, Japan in 2015 and provided a framework to identify Arctic science priorities for the next decade; coordinate various Arctic research agendas; inform policy makers, people who live in or near the Arctic and the global community and build constructive relationships between producers and users of knowledge.

ICARP II - 2005

The Second International Conference on Arctic Research Planning (ICARP II) was held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2005. It brought together scientists, policy makers, research managers, indigenous peoples, and others interested in and concerned about the future of Arctic research. ICARP II was structured around twelve major areas of potential research needs, each of which has been led by an international team of scientists and other experts.
