ICARP IV Research Priority Team Workshop - Topic Area 2: Observing, Reconstructing, and Predicting Future Climate Dynamics and Ecosystem Responses
Workshop held by the ICARP IV Research Priority Team - Topic Area 2: Observing, Reconstructing, and Predicting Future Climate Dynamics and Ecosystem Responses during the Arctic Science Summit Week 2024 in Edinburgh, Scotland, UK (21 - 29 March 2024)
25 March 2024 from 09:00 - 18:00 (UK): Open Workshop (for all attendees of ASSW 2024)
26 March 2024: from 09:00 - 18:00 (UK): Closed Workshop / By Invitation Only (only for members of Research Priority Team 2)
About Topic Area 2: The team will address research priorities and their implementation regarding topics such as: Arctic observing needs (including prioritisation and planning tools for selecting observables and the engagement of indigenous peoples and stakeholders in these processes); climate system and transformations; predicting future climate dynamics; and the need for, and nature of, sustained observations and monitoring systems including spatio-temporal comparable monitoring of abiotic and biotic factors (e.g. atmosphere - vegetation - soil). In addition, the potential of paleobiology and paleoclimatology as a basis for conservation practices and evidence-based modelling will be assessed.
